When building an inground swimming pool in Florida, you have various water features to choose from that can enhance the aesthetics and enjoyment of your pool. Here are a few popular features:

Water Bowl Feature

Waterfalls

Waterfalls create a visually stunning effect and add a soothing sound to your pool area. They can be built with natural rock formations or artificial materials, and you can customize the size and flow of the water to suit your preference.

Waterfall/Grotto Combination

Grottos are cave-like structures built within or adjacent to the pool. They often incorporate waterfalls or cascading water features, providing a tranquil retreat and adding an element of adventure to your pool area.

Sheer Descents are a type of waterfall that produces a smooth, curtain-like flow of water into your pool. They create an elegant and contemporary look, and the water can be illuminated with LED lights for a mesmerizing effect.

Bubblers

Bubblers are small jets installed in shallow areas of the pool or on the pool steps. They release streams of water that create a playful and interactive experience. Bubblers are especially popular with children as they provide a fun splash zone.

Spillover Spa

If you plan to have a spa or hot tub incorporated into your pool, a spillover spa is a fantastic addition. The water spills over from the spa into the main pool, creating a beautiful cascade effect while allowing you to enjoy both the hot tub and pool simultaneously.

Allocating a Budget for your Swimming Pool

Allocating a budget for a swimming pool is an important step in the buying process, as it helps you determine what type of pool you can afford and the features you can include. The budget you set should take into account not only the cost of the pool itself, but also any related expenses such as installation, fencing, landscaping, and maintenance. Here are some tips for allocating a budget for your swimming pool in Jacksonville, Florida.

  • Determine your overall budget: Before you start researching pools, determine how much money you are willing to spend. Consider any other expenses you may have, such as home improvements or vacations, and set a realistic budget for your pool.
  • Consider the type of pool: Different types of pools, such as above-ground, in-ground, and fiberglass, can vary in price significantly. Research the different options and determine which type of pool is within your budget.
  • Include installation costs: Installation costs can be a significant part of the overall budget for a swimming pool. Make sure to include these costs in your budget and consider the type of installation you would like, such as a basic installation or one that includes special features.
  • Factor in fencing and safety features: Fencing and safety features, such as alarms and covers, are essential for any swimming pool. Consider the type of fencing you would like and the safety features you would like to include in your budget.
  • Plan for maintenance: Regular maintenance is necessary for any swimming pool, so it’s important to budget for it. Consider the cost of chemicals, equipment, and any other maintenance expenses you may have.
  • Get multiple quotes: Once you have determined your budget, get quotes from several contractors in Jacksonville, Florida to compare prices and ensure you are getting the best value for your money.

By following these tips, you can ensure that you allocate a budget for your swimming pool that is realistic and takes into account all necessary expenses. With a clear budget in mind, you can start shopping for your dream pool with confidence.

Bad Pool Filter Issues

What repercussions occur from neglecting a pool cartridge filter and what can it cause to my pool and the swimmers in the pool?

We all know that a dirty filter can cause some minor inconveniences, like the pool cleaner doesn’t run as well, or the waterfall doesn’t shoot out as far, but did you  know that there are several other issues that can be caused by a bad filter that causes poor circulation and cleaning?

One of the most unsightly issues that come from a bad filter is a green pool. The pool filter is designed to remove impurities and dirt from the water, but when your filter is clogged with suntan oil and dirt it allows the contaminates to pass right on around the pleats in the filter and back into the pool. This means that even though you have placed a lot of chlorine in the pool, the algae is just coming right back in and over time it will settle to the bottom and cause your chlorine to work overtime to not only kill the new algae but work to fight the old algae as well. This will deplete your chlorine and allow an algae bloom.

When I am cleaning pools in Jacksonville Florida I try my best to save my customers money without causing the headache of a pool they can’t use. In the grand scheme of things a new filter is a drop in the bucket next to having to move your child’s birthday party to adventure landing because the pool turned green the day before the party!

The good news is there are several preventative steps to keeping your filter in top condition for a long time! One way is to regularly clean your filter. Depending on your filter size and pool usage you should clean your pool 1 to 2 times a month. If you are cleaning your filter more than that, you either have an undersized filter, or a bad pool filter that needs to be replaced.

Another thing you can do to extend the life of your filter is to use a filter cleaning agent like Natural Chemistry’s Filter Perfect, or you can purchase some Dawn dish soap from the dollar store and dilute it in water and use that…it “cuts through the grease”. If the filter cleaner doesn’t work you can try an acid and water solution. I try to never go more than a 50/50 mixture and the older the filter the more you should dilute the mixture.

So whether you are performing your own swimming pool maintenance or you have have a service (we have a great pool cleaning service in Jacksonville Florida), you need to pay close attention to your filter, it can keep your pool crystal clear if you take the time to do things right!
